The delegation of the Public Policy Secretariat (PPS) paid an official visit to Portugal from 1 to 5 July 2024. Apart from the PPS staff, the representatives of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government, the Development Agency of Vojvodina, the National Academy of Public Administration and the Swiss Cooperation Office in the Serbia participated in the official visit.
Meetings were held with representatives from the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation, which established the national portal PORDATA, the Administrative Modernization Agency of Portugal, the National Institute for Public Administration of Portugal, the General Directorate for Local Self-Government of Portugal and the representatives of the local government of the Municipality of Cascais.
The aim of the visit was to exchange experiences on the implementation of activities related to the use of data to improve the work of local self-governments and the development of analytical capacities towards improving the efficiency, participation and responsibility in the work of local self-government units.
The visit to the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation was of great importance, as this foundation established and developed a database called PORDATA at the national and local level which is used largely by state authorities, independent organizations, schools and universities, and citizens as well. Their experience in promoting the aforementioned database was very significant for the Public Policy Secretariat, since it also developed a user-oriented and publicly available database at the level of local self-governments, accessible at https://rsjp.gov.rs/cir/analiticki-servis/.
The visit to Portugal was made possible by the Government of the Swiss Confederation through the implementation of the Project: “Local Self-Government for the 21st Century”.
