The Republic of Serbia is committed to the Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030 which was adopted by the UN General Assembly in order to continue the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals.

The Republic of Serbia is committed to the Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030 which was adopted by the UN General Assembly in order to continue the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals. These are 17 development goals focused on the eradication of poverty, education, social welfare and health care, economic growth, and the addressing of climate changes.

The process of prioritising and adjusting the development goals to the situation in our country is underway. The Public Policy Secretariat with the assistance of the GIZ (German Agency for International Cooperation) has prepared the Report ‘Agenda 2030 and Serbia’ as an immediate response to the need for mapping the strategic framework of Serbia and a contribution to the dialogue and decision-making on the prioritised Agenda 2030 in Serbia.

For each sustainable development goal there is a short overview of the state-of-affairs in that field, indicators through which the goals will be monitored, and a description of relevant international processes, primarily of the European one in which Serbia participates.

The Report takes into account the progress made in the process of accession to the EU, the Framework for Development Partnership, and findings of the Government Report on the realization of Millennium Development Goals. The idea is to provide the factual basis for relevant Government and non-Government entities for the realization of the next phase that relates to the setting of development priorities and definition of indicators on the basis of which Serbia will be reporting on the implementation of the Agenda 2030.

The International Task Force for the implementation of the UN Agenda for Sustainable Development by 2030 has been established. It comprises representatives of 26 Government institutions and is chaired by Professor Dr Slavica Djukic Dejanovic, Minister without Portfolio Responsible for Demography and Population Policy.
